I had shed a few tears after speaking with my friend a few years ago after he told me he was having heart issues and wasn't doing too good. We lost him later that year. I still miss that silly son of a bitch.

Oh man, those badges are a great addition, and I love the new powerups.
I enjoyed my time with this game, the movement options really do encourage you to sequence break and just see how far you can go with what you have. The ending is kinda abrupt though.

Well similar to what Smartlord said: I don't think this is a matter of the passage of time or comparing it to newer Indie games. Because there's been fucking incredible indie games even back then, it's just Behemoth games have always kinda been like this.I think we're agreeing here? I don't think what I said contradicts what you're saying
Maddie Ringtail posted:
I don't quite agree with that. I think the bigger problem is most of the Behemoth's games are kinda shallow. We’ve simply become spoiled by more robust indie games, especially ones that have developed mechanically, artistically, or even in maturity, and so it becomes difficult to go back to more archaic games that we’ve touched so long ago.
I still think it's funny. Though the best gag in Castle Crashers is in the snow shop, when you walk up to the shopkeeper and one of his lines is:
"We only accept cold cash, lol."
I use Kdenlive nowadays. Gets the job done.

It's a power weapon. Quake 2's chaingun is seriously one of the coolest bullet firing weapons I've seen in an FPS game. The sheer volume of fire that thing puts out and the fact it frequently chunks targets into pieces makes it really special.
I don't think anyone should tell you to stop. It's Doom mod development and looking past the green haze of fart gas there's a lot going on under the hood of your project. It's also impressive you're pulling all of this shit off in a Zandronum friendly package. Not enough people realize how far behind Zandy is compared to GZDoom.I will say, a little confused by the minigun in Q2... because the laser canon thing exists and is so much more efficient?
I find gyro aiming to be a very good compliment for aiming with an analog stick, using the two together makes for a level of precision and speed that feels really balanced.
I do like how the charge horn works in 4, it's pretty damn handy to immediately command all of your blues to pick up something specific and then move on, whereas with swarming you run the risk of any other flower Pikmin charging forward and interacting with whatever it is you want.
Piyoko posted:
Oh crap -that- guy, well I'm nearly done with that series so I just need to keep an eye out for the last few pieces. Though really I feel like swarming has been effectively replaced by the charging horn. While I'll have done all of the main/side stuff after getting all the upgrades, I can still go back and go for golds/platinums in the challenges and dandori battles.
This game needs NG+ so badYou get it from completing a side mission that wants you to complete the soulful musician series, which you can't do until the end of the game since a piece is in the last cave. After that you need to talk to frise at the base to get it.
I'm confused, I've seen multiple claims now that you get the swarming upgrade after the final dungeon, but I cleared that out and got no such thing. Unless you get it after you complete all the dungeons?
Oh no the opening of this trailer, lol. Like at 8 seconds in.
Where's the ring?
This is one of the few games where going for 100% items and dungeons is really fun. Though I don't think I'm gonna go for platinums on all challenges because some of those are savage.
Also Rock Pikmin are insanely good at gathering spicy berries because a single attack from them knocks the fruit off. I've been putting 5 on each plant while I fuck off to mop up the rest of the level, between that and killing so many frozen enemies, I currently have like 106 spicy sprays.

As far as I remember: Absolutely nothing. That's cool I never knew that. What do the rings do?
Man, Pikmin 4's got a lot of content.
and friend of mine and I are still looking for an old flash called "Castlevania: Harmony of Drumsticks", it was a stupid old cartoon but it's just one of those things from our school days we've been trying to find.
Beside that I've also been trying to re-find something I saw fairly recently, it was a short video of someone playing VRchat and they got jumpscared by a whale in the scene they were in, their avatar was an anthro of some kind, and I think they make VRchat models?
Been really enjoying my time with this game so far as well. I was really on the fence about Oatchi's inclusion as I was worried he was going to be a half-baked addition, but it turns out he's insanely flexible and the abilities he can learn are great. I haven't gotten it yet but I can see Super Chomp gives him the ability to leap into the air and carnage flying critters. That's bad ass. Still waiting to get the rocket fist upgrade though, I know it's here.
Also one of my favorite details is the idle animation of your captain: They'll start doing warmup stretches and nearby Pikmin will mimic them. That's cute.
I went from playing TOTK to revisiting ALttP, and the first thing that came to mind was: "God damn, it's nice to not have to worry about my sword breaking." After that I've been revisiting OoT using Ship of Harkinian. That game is still great too.
Wow this Pikmin 4 demo is pretty substantial. it's already sold me as it feels more like Pikmin 2 with the upgrades and stuff. Oatchi's pretty cool too.
I wonder if we'll get another remix of the Prelude after defeating Culex?
Man, she's not even the biggest threat once you realize she can roll around, it's her little spawn that are the real danger. Their attacks are instant death for your Pikmin, there's no grace period where you can save them like you can with almost every other creature in the game.
After using Windows 7 for like 11+ years on my old computer, I dove right into Linux Mint on a second-hand machine my friend gave me. Took me a few days to adjust to how things are done, and another few to download and compile the tools I use. But really at this point I'm extremely comfy and it's business as usual. I love it.

They are definitely tougher, but I still chewed through the fierce deity sword pretty quickly. Poes also DO respawn after Blood Moons, but I still don't think it's worth the time investment and hassle. I never really bothered with going out of my way for any weapons other than an extra forest dweller's spear ONCE, otherwise I'd just loot anything I found on the floor, which did mean I had to break some garbage weapons over the heads of the tougher end game enemies. That sucks.I feel like they have drastically increased durability? I remember having those fuckers in my inventory for in incredibly long time, but I tend to shuffle around the weapons I use based on the situation so that might be why.
That said, grand poes exist near major mines which are easily located since they're where towns are. They almost always have nearby lightroots and are usually places right out in the open in easily accessible places. You can just drop by each location, they're worth 20 each, and there's usually 2 of them so that's 40 poes. I think blood moons respawn them too (they definitely do respawn).
If their durability really is that low though, maybe they aren't worth it.
Just put some muzzleflashes on the guns please.
Yeah I'm gonna agree with Ganerumo, the time investment to scoop up Poes isn't worth the short time you get with those special weapons.
That was a pretty solid Direct. SMRPG remake looks great, and Pikmin 4 being more in line with 2 has me sold. I also really like that funky artstyle for SMB Wonder
Ganerumo posted:
Really the only logic I can see behind the durability is yeah, forcing the player improvise on the fly. It also discourages bruteforcing against enemy shields but I feel like they could have done something else, with equipment being so disposable and shitty it always feels like getting new gear doesn't matter. I really dislike it. it doesn't help enemies get increasingly more HP so it becomes a grind to wear them down.
If they bring back durability in the next entry, I wouldn't mind if they took notes from Muramasa the demon blade. In that game you carried a handful of swords that could all break, but when they do you stow them away and they regenerate after a short period of time, so you're still forced to cycle out equipment but you never truly lose anything. If they did something similar in the next Zelda game where instead of having like 20+ slots of brittle, disposable weapons, you carry like 4-5 weapons that you're constantly cycling between, then I think that'd be fine.
Or just be done with it and give us equipment permanence again.Durability fucking sucks. No one sits down and says "this game would be more fun if my sword broke". Every time people try to defend it, it's either defended as a bad system with some kind of menial, positive outcome (ie "it forces you to improvise/play differently", which is nonsense and even further from the truth with TOTK) or defended as a mechanic that can be easily ignored/bypassed, which begs the question: if it's easily ignored or bypassed, why is it even in here ?
Edited:
Like seriously if you turn that shit off in BOTW the game instantly becomes more fun because you don't have to obsess over managing your weapons, you don't have to force yourself to avoid fights to preserve durability, and finding new, better weapons is actually rewarding.
Even though those special weapons can be replaced by buying them with Poes, that still means you need to run around in the depths mashing A to collect more resources, so it's still going to be a grind regardless.
I'm quite fed up with the durability and loot stuff after two pretty lengthy games. I don't mind seeing another open world again, just make it smaller and give me some more traditional Zelda equipment and permanency.
I get a towel, wetten it and lay it across the back of my neck, sometimes I put it in the freezer for a short time before doing that.
I had actually made a jury rigged swamp cooler in the past, you could look into building one of those using small copper tubing, a water pump for fishtanks, a bucket of cold water, and a big fan. I've also used transmission coolers for that too.
I still need to pick up Slayers X, but I still think the Glass Shart gun is absolutely genius. Breaking windows is such a common thing in FPS games, so why not turn that into a resource?
Get Frozen Bubble. FOSS clone of Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble, has like 100 boards in puzzle mode, and an endless mode. No ads, no bullshit, just a really solid little puzzle game.
I think that person has problems.
Understandable why the lighting is removed. Disappointing, but totally understandable. Shooting for 60 fps was the right call I feel, though I don't know if the game maintains a consistent 60 fps.

There's a sourceport for Duke 2 that introduces widescreen, smooth scrolling and 60 fps at least. Rigel Engine. Pity there isn't one for Duke 1
How the fuck are you gonna play Duke 3D with that controller?
That's what baffles me. It seems a little silly to give us a coordinates system but not a way to check coordinates on the cursor alongside the coordinates on Link.
I actually like that there's interesting things to be found that're hidden away in the world. My problem is the side quests don't have anything of real value to them.
Really I feel like the game would be better off with less side quests and just more rumors and talks of interesting things to find in the world.
I freed myself from upgrade hell by only bothering to upgrade the Soldier's armor twice, and then I moved on with my life. I saw the writing on the wall for the insane grind so I just said "fuck it"
